The first installment in the Dance Data Lathe series comes from Munich-based, veteran producer Zero Crossing — with a remix from none other than trailblazing producer Shiken Hanzo. Andreas Angerer, aka Zero Crossing, began creating his own music in the mid 90s. This release marks the return of the project via Dance Data and his first full EP since 2006. 'Brain Wash' dives into familiar yet sonically fresh territory, bringing the Zero Crossing sound full circle into 2024. Some listeners might initially draw comparisons to artists like Christoph De Babalon, Photek and even Shiken Hanzo himself — but they'll also notice a unique thread that is entirely Angerer's own. Each song conveys a sense of isolation and being lost in an unfamiliar space — elements that, intentionally or not, bind the EP together. They traverse through a thick and ominous jungle, searching for a light in the darkness. Then, Shiken Hanzo's interpretation of the track 'death fog' infuses it with a hyperdriven edge.
