Human Pitch welcomes COLA REN to the label with Mekong Ballad, the Guangzhou-based artist’s first record to feature her own singing. Influenced by the breath of rivers and the weight of tropical air, each piece drifts like reflections on moving water—dissolving, refracting, and returning. Across six ambient compositions, fragments of memory surface: a fallen fruit, a whispering current, the haze of moonlight over an estuary. It is both a meditation on water and a journey into states of weightlessness and belonging. COLA REN introduces her voice on the title track with Chinese lyrics by J-Fever (小老虎), weaving a new element into her signature ambient textures. The EP also features instrumental collaborations: saxophone lines from rising Chinese free jazz star tga and trumpet by Thai improviser rrrrrm extends the music into unexpected currents of breath and resonance. These contributions bring an organic, human pulse to COLA REN’s fluid sound world, where rivers, memories, and dreams interlace. Remixes by Mong Tong, Guohan, and Wu Zhuoling, exclusive to the record’s CD edition, round out the collection for a full-length physical release. credits releases November 5, 2025 Composed and produced by Cola Ren Lyrics on track 1 written by 小老虎 J-Fever Tenor saxophone on track 1 by tga Trumpet on track 2 by rrrrrm Track 1 mixed by Sdewdent Mastered by Tristan Arp and Sdewdent Artwork by Lanxin Zhao Calligraphy on CD by Popol Wu
