Creatively, this was the product of winter hibernation—the evening hours of bitter cold, dark, and nocturnal winter isolation we all come to know at various points in our lives. I recall spending dozens of frigid nights in January, February, and March 2011 constructing, recording, and fine-tuning these tracks. By springtime, mixes, thematics, and artwork had all materialized and were not without an overall sound that still seemed to fit well for a late April release (somehow). This EP was borne out of a type of “soft breakdown” or diffused existential crisis that precipitates in one’s mind when they start to discover, seriously entertain, and deconstruct the reality of civilization's fragility, the true vulnerability of humankind, a human-environment relationship that feels way off-kilter, and an existence(/subsistence) seemingly suspended mostly upon our own(/others’) utilitarian relationships, constructions, invented notions, conditioning, and illusions—how humanity and humanness can be so easily "marooned."
