During the first year of the pandemic I drove myself absolutely insane experimenting with new sounds and production techniques. My two main areas of interest, granular synthesis and stereo field manipulation, are on display here.
Around the halfway point of the song you'll hear my vocals come in. This was an intensely creative period of my life -- if you had lived near me you would've likely seen me twirling around my apartment by myself shirtless as I clutched the microphone. By the end of the song you'll hear my makeshift choir made by layering about 5 recordings of myself singing a triumphant tune.
This is the second song on my album Last Chance At Life. Each song is part of a larger story in which three friends leave a ravaged Earth behind in search of a new planet. After building a rocket ship out of old car parts found in a junkyard (which can be seen on the song's artwork), our heroes successfully launch their homemade ship into space. This song depicts that triumph. To read the full story, go here: https://www.houndtrack.com/last-chance-at-life
Each song on the Last Chance At Life album has its own artwork created by Leonardo Silva (@itwasleo on socials) and mastered by Lukas Turza of Snap Mastering.
